Purple Up Day

In celebration of Purple Up! Day and in proud recognition of our Purple Star Award distinction, Bluegrass Middle School proudly took more than 60 military-connected students on a special visit to Fort Knox. These remarkable students are a vital part of our school family, and we are deeply committed to supporting their social, emotional, and academic well-being.

As a Purple Star School, we implement purposeful strategies to build resilience in Kentucky’s military-connected youth. These students often face unique challenges due to their family members’ military service, including frequent relocations and parental deployments.

According to the 2018 Kentucky Incentives for Prevention (KIP) Survey, approximately 50,000 youth across the Commonwealth reported a military connection—whether through active duty, the National Guard or Reserves, or veteran family members. These young people can experience higher levels of stress and emotional impact due to their loved ones’ service.

At Bluegrass Middle, we proudly stand with our military families. We are honored to walk beside these students every step of the way—ensuring they feel supported, valued, and empowered to thrive.
